Meet Dr. Black

Born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia, Dr. Black brings a unique blend of military discipline and professional expertise to his dental practice. Following his graduation from high school, he dedicated six years to serving in the U.S. Navy, developing a strong work ethic and leadership skills that continue to define his approach to patient care.

Upon completing his military service, Dr. Black pursued higher education at Valdosta State University before earning his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from The Medical College of Georgia in 2004. With a passion for providing top-tier dental care to his community, he established Quitman Family Dentistry in 2004, later expanding his impact with Valdosta Family Dentistry in 2009. His commitment to excellence has made him a top-rated dentist in the region, earning the trust and loyalty of countless patients.
Dr. Black cherishes his personal life with his wife, Joley, whom he married in November 2020 and his two children Rachel and Nicholas Black. In his free time, Dr. Black enjoys spending time outdoors, working on cars, and spending time with his family. He finds joy in the simple things such as hands-on projects and enjoying the satisfaction of creating, fixing, and improving—whether in his work, hobbies, or time spent outdoors.
With an unwavering dedication to quality care and patient satisfaction, Dr. Black continues to set the standard for comprehensive, compassionate dental services in Valdosta and beyond.

Meet the Staff

Dr. Mindy Lombere

Dentist

Dr. Lombere was born in Los Angeles, CA. She spent much of her childhood growing up in Hawaii, where she gained a deep love for the ocean, and spent much of her time surfing. She also loves to paint and sculpt in her free time. Being surrounded by nature, she wanted to pursue the sciences, and so returned to California where she completed her education. Now, as a dentist, she shares her love for artistry and science with her neighbors by providing dental healthcare in our community.

Dr. Lombere received her Bachelor of Science degree from California State University in San Bernardino, CA. She went on to earn her doctorate from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, CA. Dr. Lombere is a member of the American Dental Association.

Dr. Lombere and her husband have been blessed with a wonderful daughter. The family enjoys horse riding lessons together as well as spending time with their three dogs Georgia, Daphne, and Whiskey.

Kasie

Lead Dental Assistant

Kasie is a dedicated dental professional who’s been part of the VFD team since 2013. She brings both skill and heart to her work—especially when it comes to designing crowns and helping patients feel their best. Born and raised in Brooks County, Kasie graduated from Brooks County High School.
Outside the office, she treasures time with her family, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and dreaming of a trip to Switzerland. She shares her home with three beloved pets—Roman, CoCo, and Honey—and has been happily married to her high school sweetheart for 21 years. Together, they have two beautiful children. Kasie is a loyal team member that has contributed greatly to the VFD family!

Brandy

Scheduling Coordinator

Brandy joined the VFD family in February 2025, bringing her signature warmth and a love for helping people smile—literally! Brandy graduated from Jackson County High School.
When she’s not making dental visits more enjoyable, you’ll likely find Brandy curled up with a good book or indulging in a well-earned nap. Her bucket list includes skydiving—proof that she’s not afraid of a little adrenaline! At home, she has two lovable pups, Chase and Poptart, who keep life playful. Whether it’s a routine cleaning or a life-changing smile makeover, Brandy’s favorite part of her job is seeing the joy on patients’ faces. That’s what makes her smile, too.

Fonsa

Dental Assistant

Fonsa joined VFD in 2025, bringing a passion for helping others feel confident and happy with their smiles. Born in Lake City, Florida, Fonsa graduated from Columbia High School and went on to study Business Administration at Toccoa Falls College. His long-term goal is to attend dental school and open a practice in his hometown.
Outside of work, Fonsa enjoys playing basketball and spending quality time with his family. He’s a proud Jacksonville Jaguars fan and hopes to catch LeBron James in action before the legend retires. Another dream destination on his bucket list: the stunning shores of Greece. Fonsa also has a German Rottweiler named China and a beautiful family that motivates him daily!

Kimpenny

Lead Dental Hygienist

Kimpenny brings both heart and expertise to the dental field! She graduated from Cook High School and went on to earn her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Valdosta State University.
Kimpenny joined VFD in 2025 and has been passionate about helping patients feel confident in their smiles ever since. Her favorite part of her job is seeing the transformation in a patient’s self-esteem when they love their smile. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and exploring new destinations. One dream trip on her bucket list is Turks & Caicos. Kimpenny’s warmth and dedication makes her a true asset in the office.

Katie

Dental Hygienist

Born and raised in Valdosta, Katie brings both hometown heart and professional excellence to her role as a dental hygienist. She graduated from Darton College’s Dental Hygiene program and she joined the VFD team in 2025. She’s known for her gentle touch and genuine connections. Katie’s favorite part of dentistry is the relationships she is able to build with her patients. She believes every smile tells a story, and she’s honored to be part of her patients’ journeys to better health and confidence.
Outside the office, Katie’s world revolves around spending precious moments with her family and three pups-Rambo, Rebel, and Knox! She enjoys cheering on the Ga Bulldogs, and dreams of one day being able to check Alaska off of her bucket list! Katie has a passion for prioritizing patients and ensuring they are greeted with a smile!

Lori

Dental Hygienist

Lori brings over two decades of experience and heart to her role as a dental hygienist. A proud graduate of Valdosta State University, she’s been dedicated to patient care since day one. In 2025, Lori joined the VFD team, where her gentle approach and genuine love for helping others has helped her to prioritize patient care with the highest standard.
Outside the office, Lori cherishes time with her family. She’s always up for a new adventure—and one day hopes to take to the skies and experience the thrill of flying. Lori is dedicated to building lasting connections with patients and helping them to reach their oral health goals!

Mandi

Office Manager

Mandi joined the VFD team in 2023, bringing with her a deep commitment to patient care and a passion for helping others feel confident in their smiles. A proud graduate of Valdosta State University, she earned her A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene and has been dedicated to the dental field ever since.
After being raised in a military family, Mandi also served in the United States Air Force at Moody Air Force Base. That legacy continues through her two sons, who are proudly carrying on the family’s tradition of service.
Outside the office, Mandi finds joy in listening to music, reading, and spending time with her church community. She shares her home with both dogs and cats, and dreams of one day visiting Italy—a bucket list destination that reflects her love of culture and adventure. Her favorite part of working in dentistry is making a difference in people’s lives by helping them feel great about their smile.

Kim

Scheduling Coordinator

Kim Jackson became part of the VFD family in 2025, bringing her vibrant energy and love for helping patients. A graduate of Atkinson County High School in Pearson, GA, Kim has always had a passion for understanding the science behind smiles—especially the terminology and techniques that make dental care so impactful.
Originally from Willacoochee, GA, Kim is a proud grandmother who delights in spoiling her grandbabies. When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find her scrapbooking cherished memories, traveling to new places, or indulging in a little retail therapy. Her bucket list includes breathtaking destinations like Niagara Falls and Bali, and she’s always cheering on whichever team LeBron James calls home. Kim’s favorite part of working in dentistry is staying educated and empowered—because knowledge is the key to confidence, both for her and the patients she serves.

Macy

Insurance Coordinator

Macy joined the VFD team in 2025, bringing a heart for connection and a love for guiding patients through their dental journey. A graduate of Lowndes High School, she’s proud to call Valdosta home and values the strong community ties that come with it.

Outside the office, Macy enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, exploring new places, and experimenting in the kitchen. Her dog Jack is her loyal sidekick, and Glacier National Park is high on her travel bucket list. Macy enjoys cheering patients on as they take steps toward healthier, more confident smiles. Her favorite part of working in dentistry is being hands-on in helping patients feel informed, empowered, and involved every step of the way.

Katelyn

Dental Assistant

Katelyn has been a valued member of the VFD team since 2017. A proud graduate of Lowndes High School and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, where she earned her Dental Assistant certification. She finds joy in educating patients and witnessing the transformation that comes with big dental cases—especially seeing the happiness it brings to those she helps. Her dedication to patient care is matched by the warmth she brings to the office every day.

Outside of work, Katelyn loves reading, baking, and spending time with her husband and their beautiful daughter. Though she roots for the Georgia Bulldogs, she’ll admit she’s not much of a sports fan. One of her dreams is to visit all 50 states and soak in the beauty and diversity of America. Born and raised in Valdosta, Katelyn is deeply connected to her community and passionate about making a difference—one smile at a time.
